Doggy Do’s & Don’ts For 2018 At PipTree Cafe

Previously all dog’s have been very welcome inside the cafe and that policy had proved to be popular with our many dog-owning visitors, but after listening to a great deal of feedback from all of our customers since we opened two years ago, we are aware that not everybody is comfortable sharing their personal space with animals, so we have decided to strike a balance by setting out some house rules out of respect to them.

  • Dogs are only permitted in the front half of the cafe – that’s tables 1 – 11
  • We only permit quiet, well-behaved & clean dogs within the cafe
  • Dog owners are please to refrain from allowing their dogs on their laps or seats and not to feed dogs from the table
  • Due to limited floor space, large dogs will no longer be permitted inside the cafe

Just a point about dogs, you might want to include with your rules that under the Equality Act 2010 you legally have to accept assistance dogs into your cafe. Assistance dogs will have coats on and be registered. Several cafes have been sued for not allowing assistance dogs into them, so just giving you some friendly advice

Hi Ann, we’re well aware of this law and of course make exceptions for guide dog visitors when they visit, which is a frequent occurrence. Thanks very much for the friendly advice.
